Any truth in the rumour that the multi-million-pound scheme to regenerate Aberdare town centre approved by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has run out of money?
I was informed that instead of stone paving in parts of the town some arrears would now be tarmac, any info on this?
A £7.7m funding package for Townscape Enhancements seems quite a lot of money I understand there are hidden costs new services etc but £7.7m someone is making a few shillings.
Run out of money? I gather
Run out of money?
I gather the scheme is due to finish in a matter of weeks, the footways seem all done I think and the road is being dug up and relaid in tarmac today as I was in town at the bank.
From what I recall the areas they said would be done have been other than from by Barclays bank to by the old Black lion. If they do that section which looking at it today they are working up that way they have done the lot - seems another nonsense rumour yet again
There is a stall in Abrdare Market that you can ask for an update at, its only open a few hours a week and never when I'm in town or else I would ask
Information I heard about
Information I heard about that an area I think part of Whitcombe Street around Sheppard’s the chemist was initially down to be a paved area and due to lack of funding this area will now be tarmac, so there is no truth in the rumour?
Was it ever in the plans
Was it ever in the plans that were on show in town? I dont recall that area ever being suggested as in Whitcombe Street?
I know the road signs for
I know the road signs for Canon Street say it will be shut for 6 weeks from the 6th of July and it is still closed and no where near finished OVER six weeks later.
What have they put up
What have they put up outside the library in Aberdare? It looks like a wall with glass blocks spelling ABERDARE.
Don't the Authorities realize this "is" Aberdare, and the mindless scum who hang around the town will soon smash, spray or whatever it takes to damage it.
Why do they spend money on these things, are they stupid or what? Back in the 90s they put up these rustic stone walls on top of the two Penywaun hills. Before the workman's tools were dry, they had been damaged, now they are overgrown and look terrible. Put the money where it is needed most, into building prisons and workhouses!
I see the town cntre was
I see the town cntre was back open to traffic yesterday and the roads and footways in that area seem all finished - have to say what has been done so far looks good. Hope the rest does when all finished
Just passed the caradog
Just passed the caradog statue tonight. £7.7million for drunks to put their beer cans and rubbish and then sit and on £7.7 million walls and throw up. Could see that one coming. This town really needed that money. What a waste of an enormous amount of money.
I haven't walked through
I haven't walked through town yet, but I have drove trough, it looks to me like the town is now much more disabled/wheelchair friendly, which is always good to see, the kerbs are lower and the pavements are nice and smooth, although I predict an ice rink come winter!
