I've recently retired from the Forestry Commission and am interested in setting up a firewood supply business for householders in the South Wales Valleys. Unfortunately I do not have a clue as to the demand and need advice on conducting a survey to gauge the potential demand before I invest in expensive machinery and set up a supply chain. The logs supplied will be from sustainably managed woodlands within Wales and burning them will aid the environment as wood is carbon neutral and can be regenerated.
Please get in touch with any ideas to take this venture forward.
Thanks,
Ian

I have a log burner and am always looking for seasoned logs, my normal supplier has doubled his prices due to the increase in demand, contact me at coedboy@aol.com if you want any more info.

I used to sweep chimneys and the only trouble is the lack of decent wood to burn. It has to be absolutely dry as the smoke causes terrible congestion in the neck of the chimney. Wood burners need sweeping twice yearly if used on a regular basis but most people tend to use them from october onwards.
Find a decent fire supplier or builders merchant and ask them about supply of wood burners, there is a good installer of wood burners in tongwymlais and I know them well. The rate of wood burners is increasing and certain areas will use wood/coal as no natural gas.
t is very good for the environment and the waste will go straight into the compost or garden
