I am currently researching my great grandfather who was born in 1866 in Aberdare. His name was David Davies, as was his father, a haulier from Aberdare.

He married Karan Harding of 4 Duke Street, on 9th October 1889 in Carmel Chapel, Monk Street and they lived in Cardiff Road.

A name such as Davies in Wales is very common and I wondered(at a last resort!) if anyone had any information on him. I believe his occupation was a blacksmith and they moved to find work in Chester.

Karan relatives were the Lucas's who owned a green grocers business.
