Cwmbach round about the 1950s

Cwmbach round about the 1950s the large cooling tower of Middle Duffryn power Station and Washery dominating the skyline. Note there are no fur trees on the mountain above Cwmbach houses are very sparse unlike today.
At the time the power Station was active the water in the river Cynon at that point was heated up by the discharge of hot water that flowed into the river Cynon from the cooling process of the power Station. It was not uncommon for boys to go swimming in the all together in the warm water of the Cynon.
