as you all know i am a care support worker and before my maternity leave i worked for a nursing agency in cardiff. for the last 2 years with the agency i have been a regular at a leonard cheshire home in radyr (danybryn) and have worked with residents with all sorts of dissabilities and all ages, the yougest there when i started was 25 but sadly he passed away.
leonard cheshire homes are by far the best care homes i have worked in, the staff are so friendly and the residents are well looked after, they are free to come and go as they please, they also have mini-busses and drivers in each home to be able to take the residents wherever they want to go.
i was actually watching tv earlier on and saw the advert for leonard cheshire with the creature comforts characters and the voice of the tortoise sounded very famillier to me, he sounded like my most favourite resident in danybryn so i thought i'd look it up and i found the site aboutt he advert and then found out that 2 other residents that i got close to also had parts in these adverts.
take a look at the site, i looked after brian the bull terrier (aka kevin), peg the hedgehog (aka sheila) and tim the tortoise (aka ian).
make sure you watch the adverts on the site and check out behind the characters to read everyones stories. these 3 people are fantastic people and have plenty to say about their disabillities.
Those are very good adverts
Those are very good adverts ,so good to hear that the disabled people themselves played a part in making them .
They open your eyes to the needs of the disabled, which are still lacking in so many places .
hey, this advert was really
hey, this advert was really great, bet these three are a bit of characters. I used to love helping with the old age, we took thirteen men and women to Blackpool for 5 days oh what fun we had, they even made me go on the Pepsi Max ride lol never again.
hey chick the voices overs
hey chick the voices overs of the dog and the tortoise are only 40/50. they are all great people and i got on well with them. i am a supporter of cardiff city and 1 of the men are supporters of them too so we always chatted and he reminds me so much of my dad they are like 2 peas in a pod. the other man and me keep in regular contact through emails so ke keeps me up to date with things in the home. i always make sure i pop to their rooms to show them the baby when we go down to see the staff.
