The new hospital will now facilitate the closure of St Tydfils. The people of Aberdare and Mountian Ash have been duped.
Out of the one hundred beds avaiable, only fifty will be for Cynon Valley residents. the other fifty will house patients from St Tydfils which will close in April of this year. Staff from Aberdare and Mountain Ash are now surplus to requirements and will be asked to find work elsewhere or to apply for early redundancy.
The birthing centre is also to close. The only way for a baby to be born in the Cynon Valley will be if the mother chooses home birth.
LOVELY HOSPITAL PITY WE CANT GET IN IT.
Ysbyty Cwm Cynon = Hospital
Ysbyty Cwm Cynon = Hospital for Cynon Valley. So, by bringing patients and staff from St Tydils, Cynon Valley is losing beds and nurses, that can't be right, who is making all these decisions then ?
The loss of the Birthing
The loss of the Birthing Centre @ Aberdare hospital is a real tragedy. I gave birth to both my children there (2006 and 2008) and the staff and the facilities were amazing. How can this be allowed to happen!! If I had another baby now - I'd definitely go for a home birth.
So the new hospital is a
So the new hospital is a feeder for prince charles, they were never going to give us in the cynon valley a decent hospital.
Lets see Dare ward has 20
Lets see Dare ward has 20 patients I assume Cynon ward has the same I don’t know about Aman ward but I know there are quite a few beds in there.
Well that’s over our limit for Cynon Valley, about 60 patients if not more and they are mostly long-term patients.
Why they don’t keep the new section of Aberdare Hospital open they are just throwing good public money away. We have an aging population the new hospital won’t cope 3 years of daily visiting Dare ward proves to me what is in place now is insufficient for the turnover of elderly patients and as you say the new hospital will take less.
MADNESS for the residents of Cynon Valley.
Who is to blame for this impending blunder?
Those responisble are the
Those responisble are the hospital 'administrators'. There is a meeting tomorrow morning at Sobells sports centre at 9.30 a.m. - I am going.
Apparently the people of Merthyr are as incensed as we are at this. I mean its not even a proposal, its done and dusted. Having spoken to some officers of RCT over the last few days, it would appear that they didnt know either, that St. Tydfils was to be added to our hospital. In fact, one senior mmember was still arguing with me tonight that its only EMI thats going to be moved over - that is not the case. The rehab beds ARE being moved as well.
Obviously St. Tydfils is a wreck, but the fact is that we let them close Aberdare and Mountain Ash because we were to be given a brand new facility to replace those hospitals. Now however, we are having half a hospital to replace the two we have lost.
I know we have a 70 million pound hospital but what good is it if we cant get into it? And when its full, what will happen to the residents of Cwm Cynon then? Where will our rehab patients be looked after? I hope there will be some answers tomorrow because I really think we have been treated like a bunch of fools, once again.
Welsh assembly for you, lie
Welsh assembly for you, lie cheat and sell snakeoil
nowt to with the assembly
nowt to with the assembly government Russ, much closer to home - administrators and executives of our own health board.
Well same applies lying
Well same applies lying cheating snakeoil sellers. Give a councillor a position he will lie cheat just to keep the cuccumber sandwiches and battenburg flowing. And his secret holiday / retirement fund growing.
No doubt somewise soul will put me right on this one, whhhhoo I wonder what my councillor did anything for me???? Ooooohh yes, he did diddly squat as I expected.
I did speak to the deputy
I did speak to the deputy leader of the council, and Mr. Forey was at the meeting yesterday but it would appear that I was the only one who was upset that our lovely new facility is going to be used to close yet another hospital, ie. St. tydfils, Now I know it needed to be closed, but sticking all those patients in two of the four wards just seems a bit of a cheek when we allowed them to close Aberdare and Mt. Ash in order for us to have this lovely new facility. Things were said such as well you dont mind travelling to Cardiff for an outpatients appointmetn so why would you care about travelling from Merthyr to Royal glam, etc....I guess all those lucky people on the board of executives have access to transport, because I cant imagine there will be a regular bus service to royal glam and if there is it will still take eons to get there. Anyway they win and we lose, which is pretty much normal for us in the Cynon Valley, dont you think?

Are yes Mr. Forey known as
Are yes Mr. Forey known as the older peoples champion of Rhondda Cynon Taf?
The man is an absolute disgrace he only champions himself and the council not the people he is supposed to represent. I think they are all the same on £36,000 plus a year for part time work.

The deputy leader Anthony Christopher spouts off with a quote in walesonline
“We are very fortunate to have a leader who is able to promote the interests of Rhondda Cynon Taf across the public sector. By holding these positions councillor Roberts is able to voice the needs and concerns of residents both in terms of policing and health services on behalf of Rhondda Cynon Taf.”

No Mr Christopher your sidekick Roberts is not looking after the needs and concerns of residents in the health service and it would seem no other local councillor is either.
They take the money but don’t give a dam about you the public who pay their wages.
Keep on voting Labour in Cynon Valley and put up with crap you have been getting for years we have been treated worse than second best.
Don’t blame the councillors blame yourselves you voted for them.
What a classic piece of
What a classic piece of brown nosing from the incumbent from Aberaman North. There's one thing these Labour councillors know for sure, and that's which side their bread is buttered on. No wonder Christopher feels "very fortunate" to have the likes of Russel Roberts steering the ship. As far as he's concerned, Roberts is heading straight for Treasure Island!
